Succession Wars

Over the course of history, the vast majority of wars have been fought over land and the right to succeed to a throne. In our modern era of democracies and dictatorships, the entire concept of dynastic warfare has disappeared, but even as late as World War II, dynastic warfare was an element, if not the purpose, of war.
